In this Youtube tutorial video featuring Will Cybertron from One Frequency United, he’s back with another installment in our series about how we write and record our punk rock songs. This one’s about laying down two different guitar tracks with my Gibson Les Paul Standard. You don’t need a pro studio for this—my home setup works fine, and it’s where we’ve made our last four punk albums.
In the video, I show how I record two guitar parts: one for the left speaker, one for the right. They’re not the same—each has its own distinct style, like a rhythm riff and a sharper lead. I go over my process: amp settings, distortion, and panning them to get that wide, gritty sound. You’ll hear it come together with the Superior Drummer 3 drums from the last video. It’s simple, and you can do it anywhere.
Our home studio’s solid, but the point is you don’t need fancy equipment or extensive training —just the right approach. Next up, I’ll do a video on adding bass. We hope you’ll check this one and all our other videos out, and please let us know what you think in the comments or on any of our social media accounts @OneFrequencyUnited. We love what we do, and we love you, too!
