In this Youtube tutorial, Will Cybertron focuses on how he makes his kind of punk rock—gritty, loud, and simple. You don’t need a pro studio for this. Its done all from a home setup, where One Frequency United has made the last four albums. This video’s about his guitar process, building on the earlier ones where I covered Superior Drummer 3 and laying down tracks.
Here’s how it works: He uses two guitars—a left and a right. Each gets its own part, panned hard to the sides. It’s just four chords, nothing fancy, but it creates a full, wide sound that makes One Frequency United’s unique style. He goes over why leads can cut through vocals, which is great for energy, but they can also clash or overpower if they’re too busy.
He uses a Gibson Les Paul Standard, you’ll see it in the video, plus how it sounds with the drums from before. It’s the process I’ve come to use in writing punk rock tunes. It shows any studio works as long as you’ve got the guts to try it.
